Web Sites

Zearn.org – Students can join their teacher’s site and receive addition lessons and extra practice in their common core math instruction. Zearn walks students through each lesson, assigns fluency practice, and students can watch video examples and explanations on how to solve problems. Students are provided with virtual manipulatives to help solve complex problems.

 

IXL.com – IXL is a free online website that enables students to practice their skills in all subjects: math, science, language arts, and social students. Students are allotted 20 questions a day without a subscription.

 

Prodigygame.com (also an app) – Prodigy has content from all major math topics and covers grades 1 - 8 to help ensure that students understand grade level concepts. A diagnostic test is used to place students in the correct grade, embedded assessments, and automatic differentiation, Prodigy ensures that each student succeeds at their own pace. Students enjoy the game format and most don’t even realize that they are learning while playing.

 

Mobymax.com

Students can log into this website through the following website: http://www.mobymax.com/ca5365. Here students can practice language arts grammar and reading comprehension skills, as well as math fluency and concepts.

 

Apps

Fourth Grade Splash Math – allows students to do 20 grade level problems a day for free.

 

A+ Spelling Test – Parents or students type and record their spelling words for the week. Students can then practice throughout the week. Students can also play games with their spelling words to get more familiar with them. Students can take spelling tests in the app and send results to parents as well.

 

Multiplication Flash Cards (by Hooda Math) – simple flash cards. Multiplication problem is given. Students says answer, taps screen and finds out if they are correct. This app focuses on multiplies of 1 through 12. This is a great app if students are trying to master a certain multiple, like the multiples of 7. Students can also take multiplication quizzes through this app.

 

Math Cards Flash Flashcards (by Big Red Apps) – This app covers math facts dealing with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students are shown a flash card with a problem and click the screen. A new card shows up with 6 – 8 answers on it and students choose the correct one. Student receives feedback if correct or incorrect. Students swipe up to receive new flashcard.

 

Impoppable (by Zearn, Inc.) – math app that helps students practice their multiplication and division math facts and fact families.
