ATTENTION: LUISEÑO SCHOOL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
Subject: Holy Debris Flow Areas and School Safety
Important safety information meetings are scheduled in October and November for school and community members in areas affected by the Holy Fire. We advise you to attend both school and community meetings listed at the bottom of this page.
Why attend these meetings? The Holy Fire has scarred hillsides and mountains above your school and neighborhoods. Emergency officials now warn of a risk from debris flows, which can happen anytime. Debris flows are fast-moving, deadly landslides. They are powerful mixtures of mud, rocks, boulders, trees, and sometimes homes or vehicles. Safety depends on being alert and staying informed.
Who should attend? All residents in Holy Fire burn areas are reminded to be vigilant and prepared to evacuate if public safety officials determine evacuations are necessary. This is an important opportunity to learn about school safety plans and emergency safeguards to protect lives in the event of debris flows.
Because debris flows can happen suddenly, receiving live emergency alerts is essential. To sign up for emergency voice and text alerts using your PC or mobile device, visit the County Emergency Management Department web site, RivCoReady.org and click on the Alert RivCo tab to complete your alert signup today.
Important: Please attend both school AND community meetings to stay informed!
