Words to Practice

Page 1 is the "word list" for words to practice. These words follow the phonics pattern that we are studying for the week. Some of the words will appear on the spelling test along with some additional words that follow the same phonics we are studying that week.

Page 2 is an example to show the "reading" page. This page is good to build reading fluency as well as practicing/highlighting words that follow a specific pattern (this week it is the -dge words, and -ch -tch).

Page 3 shows example for how to complete the pages with the colors. Students should complete at least 10 words on this page (or use all the spaces, even better). The colors are for the phonics pattern. This week blue is for the consonant blends. Use blue for the letters that form a blend. The rest of the word can be in pencil or another color. The red are for consonant digraphs.

Page 4 Phoneme-Grapheme Mapping...is sound to letter matching. Each box should only represent one sound. Two or more letters might make up one sound as in sh.

The format of the packet will stay the same, but the phonics pattern/focus will change each week. The family letter that goes home will give information about the weekly phonics we are studying.
